Building
Our Community

The Iris Collective isn't just an organization; it's a movement. It's about breaking down barriers, amplifying voices, and creating a space where women feel seen, valued and supported.

Community: A strong sense of community connection and support.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower women in Stratford and the surrounding area by fostering an inclusive, supportive community that addresses their unique challenges and celebrates their contributions. We strive to create a platform for connection, contribution, and community-building through advocacy, targeted programs and events, resources, and collaborative efforts.
Why an Iris?

Why did we choose the iris as the emblem of our collective? During a strategic planning session, the core group selected the iris for three meaningful reasons:
-
Iris is the Greek goddess known as the messenger to the gods, symbolizing communication, connection, and the sharing of wisdom.
-
The iris of the eye is unique to every individual. In the same way, each woman in our collective brings her own unique perspective, gifts, and voice—celebrated both individually and as part of the whole.
-
The iris is the official flower of Stratford, reflecting our connection to the community we call home.
Together, the iris represents voice, individuality, and community—values that are at the heart of our collective.
