Voices of Distinction

Saturday, March 28, 2026

The Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest civilian honours. Established in 1967, it recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to Canada, whether in their communities, across the nation, or around the world. Appointees are celebrated for a lifetime of achievement, service, and impact in fields such as the arts, education, science, public service, business, social justice, health, and community leadership.

To be appointed to the Order of Canada is to be recognized not only for professional excellence, but for sustained commitment to improving the lives of others. It honours courage, innovation, generosity, and the quiet, consistent work of building a better Canada.

Having eight women from Stratford and the surrounding area who hold this distinction is a remarkable testament to the depth of leadership, contribution, and influence within our own community. We're excited to have a number of these women join us for this event, including Jean Aitcheson, Seana McKenna, Loreena McKennitt, Patricia O'Malley and Diane Sims. Moderating the conversation will be Judy Maddren, who has been awarded a Meritorious Service Medal for her charitable work organizing charity readings of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol across Canada.
